SOUTHWORKS coordinated recharge time explained

How we're deliberate about recovery: Enjoying downtime without work piling up in the December-January holidays.

🔋 Coordinated recharge time

We work incredibly hard at SOUTHWORKS — for most of us, SOUTHWORKS is one the most intense places we’ve ever worked. However, because of that intensity, we’re also deliberate about finding time to recover between projects.

How deliberate? Beginning in 2022, we implemented a recharge week from December 24th until January 1, when the entire company shuts down so that we can all enjoy downtime without work piling up. When we come back, there will be no "catch-up" with work, as we expect everyone at SOUTHWORKS to be offline during that week.

This year, in 2023, we will be closed from end of day Friday December 22nd through to January 2nd.

Shutting down the whole company for a week might sound like a lot of time off for a company in growth, but given the intensity of our work throughout the year, we think this is the best way to ensure our pace is sustainable for the long term.

A big part of our Development on Demand promise to our customers is to bring dev-intensity, a high level of expertise, and ultimately to solve problems that help our customers accelerate, grow and scale. It’s important to us to find ways to help our team bring the very best of themselves to their work, and love the environment that they're in – for some of our team that means working from anywhere, or moving country completely, or being able to self-direct the types of projects they work on – and our coordinated recharge time during the holiday season is just one more of the ways that we try to facilitate balance, rest and recharge for our SOUTHIES.

We’ll see you in 2024 ready and raring to go! 🚀
